According to the national sales manager of Pride Mobility, Cy Corgan, manufacturers of the equipment are stable. He added that growth of the business flourished in 2002 and even continued on the following year. Chad Williams, president of Hamar Mobility, also affirmed what Corgan said. He explained that the market is moving to a higher notch especially with the Justice Department enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It was passed a decade ago but Williams still see public venues not having movable aids like a lift chair, for example.
Even with the situation, Cy Corgan still believes that the industry comprising that of lift chairs, will increase. He said that the reason has a lot to do with baby boomers who will only begin hitting the market heavily around 2008. Corgan further explained that the period is when a large chunk of the population starts to sense the importance of the business. It is also when manufacturers will stage awareness campaigns that they actually specialize in the creation of assistance equipment like crutches, lift chair and rollators, among others. When that time comes, he forecasted that companies will be able to successfully capitalize in the commercial scene.
Cy Corgan said that the greatest obstacle in the industry though is that manufacturers themselves are not entirely bent on staging awareness campaigns. With that, their names are unattached to the buying public because individuals do not have any idea that such company is specializing in the creation of assistance equipment like that of lift chairs. He has this theory where he explained that people will only visit a store they have watched on the television to purchase the device. Corgan went on that it is more than ripe for firms to develop advanced media advertisements that will allow all the persons in the community to know.
Aside from the lack of the awareness campaigns, Cy Corgan also noted the lack of complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Cost is also another matter that has been giving complications for manufacturers to sell the equipment. However, even with all the issues, the device is still making noise. As a matter of fact, the Veterans Administration has been constant with its orders. Hotels have also begun to regard the essence of acquisition but there are still some that are reluctant about the installation, president of Aquatic Access, Linda Nolan said. She explained though that ADA guidelines are implementing the construction.
With the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), there is absolutely a value in obtaining lift chairs.
